Blunt urges Trump’s DHH director to give aid to rural health providers

Roy Blunt – who chairs the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies – joined a bipartisan, bicamera group of 121 members of Congress in sending a letter to the Trump administration calling for immediate assistance to rural hospitals and clinics.

District maintenance jobs continue

RICHMOND – School district maintenance workers have plenty to do, starting with a “deep cleaning,” Buildings and Grounds Director Steve Minnick says while walking along a quiet hallway at Richmond High School.

In one of dozens of classrooms, custodian Scott Russell scrubs a mop across the tile floor. He has faced a couple of disasters in the past year. The first involved fighting the double-flood of 2019, as he worked with Hardin’s volunteer sandbag militia. Now, he does his part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by cleaning classrooms.

Burglary at downtown store nets knives

RICHMOND – One or more burglars struck overnight at This & That, a retail collectibles store at 215 W. Main St. in downtown Richmond.

Owner Mike Weber said Wednesday morning that, after he closed Tuesday, someone busted out the window to the front door of his business and climbed through.

“They came in the building,” he said, while talking through the broken door. “They got all the knives and stuff out of the display case that I’ve got on my counter.”
