RICHMOND – Although debuting on the square during the Richmond Mushroom Festival, Boothe 109 is the name of a store, not a festival booth. With people walking out holding ice cream cones, Boothe 109 must be an ice cream shop.

LEXINGTON – Shortly after running the anchor leg to give Richmond the win in the boys 400-meter relay April 29 at the Bill Hamann Invitational, senior Adrian Church flung the relay baton in the air while standing on the Lexington High School football field.

RICHMOND – Timmy Hamilton’s golf game clicked the last three holes of his round at the Richmond Boys Invitational. “I’d played bad enough up until that point that I was just like, ‘OK, I’m just going to kind of finish it out,’” Hamilton, a Richmond senior, said.

RICHMOND – Dylan Comstock summed up his round of golf April 30 at the Richmond Boys Invitational this way: rough front nine, better back nine. For the front nine of the par-71 round at Shirkey Golf Course, the Orrick senior struggled to keep his tee shots in the fairway, among a few other woes, he said.

LEXINGTON – Blake Buchanan’s best boys javelin throw April 29 at the Bill Hamann Invitational at Lexington High School was a “solid throw,” Orrick varsity coach Paul Giffin said. “Not a pr (personal record),” Giffin said.

RICHMOND – The Richmond Fire District has purchased a John Deere Gator and firefighting skid. The 2021 Gator is equipped with water, a pump, a hose and firefighting foam to use on grass and brush fires.

RICHMOND – Ray County expects to receive $4.4 million under the new American Rescue Plan Act. But County Treasurer Melissa Holloway said she has not seen any rules that tell how the money may be spent.
