RICHMOND – “It’s a busy time of year at Dear Elementary,” school information states. Teachers and students have been trying to get back into the swing of things after several snow days kept them out of school.
ORRICK – The Orrick School District reported that, to start the week of March 21, teacher Cassie Smith and students Natasha Hicks, Madisyn Hartwick, Keeley McAfee and Payton Vassmer traveled to the Capitol in Jefferson City for the Recognition and Awards Ceremony for Youth Art Month. The girls’ artwork had been on display on the third floor rotunda of the Capitol for the past month. Smith and students received recognition for their work from Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe and Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.
RICHMOND – The Tequila Jalisco folks continue efforts to reopen their original restaurant on East South Street and Missouri Highway 13, and to open a second restaurant, Taco Jalisco. A Feb.
RICHMOND – Half of Richmond’s boys golf team made a quick transition from trying to sink two- and three-point buckets to trying to sink putts. As of March 14, there were six student-athletes out for golf, coach Murray Dennis said.
RICHMOND – The Spartans have “the most skilled team we’ve had in a little while” this varsity baseball season, senior Lucas Rodenberg said. “We’re looking pretty solid,” he said after a March 3 practice at Southview Park.
ORRICK – Coach Mitch Comstock starts over this season with Orrick’s golf program. All Bearcats who played in 2021 have graduated, including his son, Dylan Comstock, last season’s Class 1 state champion, now a first-year men’s golfer at Park University in Parkville; and Bishop Grimm, a state qualifier last season and the nephew of retired sports editor Russ Green.
ORRICK – With roughly half of Orrick’s softball team consisting of underclassmen, skipper Zach McGill and assistant coach Tom Pierce have spent “a lot of time teaching” as the Bearcats enter the season, McGill said.
