MARKING MILESTONES

Body
RICHMOND – Dozens of people grazed at snack tables or looked through albums showing historical photographs and documents at the First Baptist Church of Richmond. “There’s your mother,” Janis Lanning said as she and Paul Patterson focused on a black-and-white photo in an album at a table marked “1957.” People gathered to mark the church’s 180th anniversary of community ministry and the completion of improvements that joined church buildings and added an elevator, Pastor William Isaacson said Saturday at the church.

FIRST-GRADERS READ TOGETHER ABOUT FLAT STANLEY

Body
DEANNA LYDAY’S Dear Elementary School first-graders read the book “Flat Stanley, His Original Adventure” by Jeff Brown. His supportive parents mail Stanley, flattened by a bulletin board, to visit family in another state. “After enjoying the book, we each made our own Flat Stanley and mailed him to family and friends around the United States,” Lyday states. “We have received many responses, both local and from as far away as Texas, Florida, California and South Carolina. It was fun to see pictures and read about the places Flat Stanley has visited.”
