Dear Elementary students are participating in the Engineering Design Process (EDP) this semester with Richmond resident, alumna and technology teacher Brittany Vest at the helm. With her help, students are making zip lines out of various materials in class.

Kansas City area engineer and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) representative Benjamin McCabe visited the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce in early January. Topics discussed during the meeting included: • Mowing concerns • Maintenance shouldering effort on Hwy 13 between Caldwell County and Richmond • Upcoming road resurfacing projects • Upcoming Richmond monument sign project • Resurfacing and shouldering project on Missouri Highway 13 between Caldwell County and Richmond planned for next year McCabe sent an email to those who participated in the discussion, stating job options are plentiful and MoDOT is facing maintenance staffing challenges.

A plateau was reached, a streak continued and a record fell on Feb. 17 at Richmond High School.

Ray County Community at Play (CAP) recently coordinated a craft night at the Ray County Library with the intention of residents simply having fun together. However, the plan and purpose changed once CAP members were inspired by a young Ray County girl who battled cancer.

In celebration of Black History Month, Prince Hall Freemasonry history ties into the John W. Carter Lodge in Richmond. The group still practices Freemasonry that was inspired by the events that abled Prince Hall Freemasonry.

HIGGINSVILLE – Richmond wrestling coach Cody Hogan and four of his Spartans had a short week to prep for their final tournament this season. At press time, Hogan; seniors Aidan Ivison, Larry Penniston and Elijah Sanders; and junior Declan Cockrum were at the Class 1 state boys competition.
