In small communities like ours where everyone knows each other – or at least believes they do – judging people based on their last names or our own personal perceptions can have a lasting impact. This subtle yet powerful force shapes opportunities, connections and public images and although this phenomenon isn’t limited to close-knit communities, its effects are stronger and potentially more harmful in these settings.
