A new business has opened in Richmond. Wood Shed Lumber & Hardware Supply, located at 900 Walton Way, occupies the building once filled by the Derstler Lumber Co.

Pursuit of a suspect last week led by the Ray County Sheriff’s Office resulted in an apprehension – and a two-vehicle accident. Cody Montez of Columbia is in custody in the Ray County Jail in Henrietta, Sheriff Scott Childers said during a Wednesday morning interview at the Richmond News offices.

Like a taciturn cowboy in a Hollywood Western movie, longtime editor and reporter Jack “Miles” Ventimiglia kept his remarks brief as he rode off into the sunset, metaphorically speaking, by retiring.

On June 8, Daddy’s Diner got a taste of the limelight. The Richmond-based eatery was rented out and became a TV set, as Farm Journal, Pivot Bio and Fivestone Studios shot the project “Farmers’ Table.” The web series/TV program invites farmers from around the country to converse about niche topics.

Veterinarians Jonathan Renfro, Cathy Harris and Dale Stewart, and the city of Richmond combined to get dogs and cats vaccinated and tagged during the Annual Pet Clinic, held June 7-9 at the Wiggly Field Dog Park.
