By signing state champion jumper and Richmond graduate Jacob Johnson, Pittsburg (Kan.) State University is getting more than another athlete for its men’s track and field program, according to Richmond jumpers coach Jacob Swope.
CHAMPION Jacob Johnson ended his high school track and field career at Richmond as a state champion. Johnson, who formally graduated May 9 and has signed to attend and compete in men’s track and field at Pittsburg (Kan.) State University, won the boys triple jump at the Class 3 state meet.
ONE MORE TIME Kaylee King and Jacob Johnson will represent Richmond High School one more time in track and field before attending the University of Central Missouri and Pittsburg (Kan.) State University, respectively.
When Richmond High School alumni Layne Cavanah, Hayden Happy and Travis Cardwell suit up for football this fall at William Jewell College, they’ll have another Richmond grad cheering for them on the sidelines.
