In pictures: District hoops
The varsity high school girls and boys basketball seasons are in the fourth quarter, metaphorically speaking.
Postseason play started this week for Classes 1-3, with Classes 4-6 slated to start the postseason next week. As of this writing, three area Class 1 programs had survived and advanced – both Hardin-Central programs and the Orrick boys.
The Hardin-Central girls opened Class 1 District 13 Tournament play Monday night by sailing past Norborne 40-17 at Norborne, the host site for all District 13 games. The third-seeded Bulldogs were slated to face No. 2-seeded Wellington Napoleon Wednesday, with the winner to play Braymer or Norborne for the title of the single-elimination tournament at 7 p.m. Friday.
In other girls bracket news, Orrick’s season ended Monday with a 38-30 loss to Norborne.
In the boys bracket, fourth-seeded Orrick opened Tuesday by thumping Southwest of Livingston County 69-43. Second-seeded Hardin-Central was awarded a first-round forfeit win over Breckenridge…
