Pugh chooses softball over track; signs with Rockhurst
Kaylee Pugh had to make a decision about her life after high school – run track or play softball in college.
She chose softball. As the Richmond News reported May 3, Pugh has signed her letter of intent to play for Rockhurst University, a Kansas City-based, NCAA Division II school. She considered track offers from William Jewell College and William Woods University; and softball offers from Rockhurst, William Woods and Crowder College, a Neosho-based junior college, she said shortly before her May 1 signing ceremony in the Richmond High School gym.
Pugh opted for softball because of her experience playing it. She started when she was in elementary school with T-ball, she recalled. She has moved on to play for Top Gun National, a traveling competitive club.
In addition, softball is Pugh’s favorite sport. It appeals to her because of “the amount of friends I’ve made playing and the connections,” she said.
Softball also has taught Pugh “a lot of life lessons,” she said. With some…
