OHS boys chase T/F titles
Orrick varsity track coach Kirk Thacker and his boys team are pursuing another district title this season.
But before they attempt to win their second straight Class 1 District 7 crown, they have another goal they want to accomplish: win the I-70 Conference title.
As Thacker pointed out March 11, Lone Jack thwarted Orrick’s hope of winning the 2023 title. The Mules won the I-70 meet with 125 points – 12 points ahead of runner-up Orrick, momilesplit.com information states.
As of March 11, there were 24 boys training to help the Bearcats win those conference and district titles. That roster included seniors Jaxon Miller and Jonathon Harris. Forced to sit out last season while recovering from surgery, Miller said he’s looking forward to participating in the long jump again. Specifically, he’s looking forward to pursuing the school record, 22 feet (6.78 meters), set in 1967 by Jack Ryan.
