RICHMOND – The Brothers and Sisters in Christ hosted their first Easter event for the public April 9 at the Eagleton Center. Children ages 4 to 14 and their parents were welcome to attend.

RICHMOND – At Dear Elementary, teachers and staff strive to show students that reading is more than a skill learned in school. “Reading is a gift that enables us to discover new facts, travel to faraway lands, enjoy a heartwarming story and learn how others handle adversity in life,” Dear teacher Lisa Thacker wrote.

RICHMOND – Richmond School District patrons will pay for a runoff election following a tie last week between Molly Lieberknecht and Jessica McMillan for a one-year school board position. The candidates could have opted to flip a coin, rather than go through the time and expense of another election, after each had received 235 votes, or 22.1% of the total in a four-person race April 4.

RICHMOND – Sales from Bark Bargains, a thrift store, and donations help Autumn Acres Animal Rescue expand to better serve dogs, owner Jenifer Dickson said. Since 2004, the nokill facility has rescued and rehabilitated at-risk animals, but lacked the desired recreational space, Dickson said.

RICHMOND – The Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma chose Richmond High School juniors Sarah Brungardt and Aspen Erskine to attend the June session of Missouri Girls State at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, based on information provided by the organization’s scholarship chairwoman, Brenda Hamm.
