Upcoming is the First Annual Homesteading in Ray County Regional Swap, Meet and Convention hosted by farm owner and minister Casey Holman. His vision for the event is to educate those residents interested in learning more about living off-grid, sustainable living and traditional skills. The event will be February 11-12 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. held at the Eagleton Center in Richmond and in the Ray County Museum. Admission is free. “I have been getting a lot of positive feedback and I think people will want to be a part of this,” said Ray County Museum Director Cathy Gottsch. There will be speakers, lard-making, bread demonstration, old fashion weaving loom demonstration, vendors, food, animals, museum walkthroughs and more. Music will be provided by Traditional Music of the Open Prairie as the couple takes a break for their travels from Oklahoma to Richmond.
