RICHMOND – Sophomore Brook Weber might have wondered if she would get blown away when she ran the anchor leg for the girls 800- and 400-meter relays Tuesday at the Hoot Middleton Invitational. Not by the competition, though.

RICHMOND – The Spartans got their offense going Tuesday against Carrollton in varsity baseball. After being outscored 16-1 and going 0-2 in the first two games of a fourgame homestand, Richmond cruised past the Trojans 15-0 at Southview Park, hammering out 12 hits to support Bryce Wagner’s no-hit pitching performance.

RICHMOND – Over the past two weeks, seventh-grade English language arts students have been going over biographies and autobiographies. They did biographies about women in the world who have made a difference.

RICHMOND – Actors are in the habit of practicing their roles three times a week for “Nunsense II: The Second Coming.” Director Mac Rogers has had cast members practicing three times a week to present the Ray County Community Arts Association’s rendition of the musical comedy April 22-24 at the Farris Theatre. “The sisters are back and they’re putting on another benefit,” he said on stage a few minutes before rehearsal last week.

RICHMOND – The Brothers and Sisters in Christ hosted their first Easter event for the public April 9 at the Eagleton Center. Children ages 4 to 14 and their parents were welcome to attend.

RICHMOND – At Dear Elementary, teachers and staff strive to show students that reading is more than a skill learned in school. “Reading is a gift that enables us to discover new facts, travel to faraway lands, enjoy a heartwarming story and learn how others handle adversity in life,” Dear teacher Lisa Thacker wrote.

RICHMOND – Fantasy golf helped the Spartans in real-world boys golf against Lawson at Shirkey Golf Course, Richmond coach Murray Dennis said. In observance of The Masters Golf Tournament, Dennis and his Spartans drafted fantasy teams and followed the tournament, won on Sunday by American Scottie Scheffler, he said Monday after the Spartans’ 201-218 dual victory.
