Body LEXINGTON – A statue honoring doughboys – a nickname for U.S. soldiers who fought in World War I – stands on the Lafayette County Courthouse Square, with new plaques naming all the Wentworth Military Academy cadets killed in war.
WENTWORTH alumni go to court successfully to preserve alumni ownership of the doughboy statue, which stands on the Lafayette County Courthouse lawn in downtown Lexington. Supporters unveil plaques on the statue pedestal Oct. 2 to identify all Wentworth cadets killed in wars.
