RICHMOND – Before “Is It Cake?” reached TV screens, Elyssa Cervantes, 13; and her mother, Angela Davis, had people asking the same question. The mother-daughter team creates delicious-looking and aromatically accurate desserts and drinks – a few being cheesecake, sundaes and daiquiris – from wax.

SOME PEOPLE are just lucky sometimes, and Johny Teegarden, Richmond, is one of them. He holds up just two of scores large morel mushrooms he discovers by accident. “I found these going down the highway,” he says, holding them up during the Mushroom Festival.
