Disc golfing alone, local man finds inspiration

Body Knoxville resident Charlie Baker, 70, decided he wanted to do more after his retirement. Following his 25 years in the casino business and then working as a local teacher – Baker spent his time learning about disc golf.

Local woman hunts morels since youth

Body Many area residents are on the hunt for morel mushrooms, including Debbie Thursby-Brock. Or as some call her, “Richmond’s mushroom queen.” Morel mushroom hunting season started in March and goes on through May.

Commissioners approve new annex

Body The Ray County Collector and Assessor’s office’s plans of moving to a new location in Richmond has been approved, according to Ray County Assessor Linda Coleman and Ray County Collector Julie Chowning.

Repairs at park begin

Body With attention on Southview Park – the pool concession building is in need of repairs and plumbing work, said City council member Deanna Guy added at last week’s meeting. The restrooms and maintenance room need repairs and the building needs a main water service line replaced.
