Wilson reigns as homecoming king, ’Cats reign o’er Orioles
ORRICK – Ethan Wilson was doubly blessed Sept. 11.
That night, the senior was crowned homecoming king during halftime of Orrick’s 8-man football game with Concordia, with Mayce Miller crowded as queen. His other blessing was the Bearcats’ 68-30 Central Rivers Conference I-70 Division victory.
“It was, honestly, unexpected,” he said. “But it was nice to hear my name called over the speakers.”
Unofficially, Wilson’s contributions to the homecoming and Senior Night win included seven receptions for 213 yards and five touchdowns. He also contributed three two-point conversion receptions and a first-quarter kickoff return for a touchdown.
Four of Wilson’s catch-and-run touchdowns were on plays of 40-plus yards. He credited the chunk-yard TD plays to his work last season with junior quarterback Blake Buchanan, who completed eight of 15 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns. Buchanan’s other passing contributions included four two-point conversion passes.
