Richmond had a breakthrough during Monday’s 6-4 road loss to Knob Noster in varsity baseball, according to coach Nick Persell. “We played our best offensive game of the season,” Persell stated Wednesday via email. The Spartans rattled out nine hits during the Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division defeat – one fewer hit than they had collected in their previous three games combined, Persell stated. Senior Aidan Ivison power Richmond offensively with three hits (two singles, one double) with three RBIs. The Spartans’ four runs also matched their combined run total of the previous three games, when they were outscored 30-4. They fell 11-1 to Southern Boone and Odessa 13-2, both on March 25 at Odessa; and 6-1 to Lafayette County of Higginsville March 30 at Southview Park in their MRVC East and home opener.
