Stevinson leads all-star team to victory
ST. JOSPEH – Zander Stevinson finished his 8-man football career a winner.
Not only that, but the recent Orrick graduate finished with a comeback win that he helped engineer.
Stevinson,whograduatedinMay,played in the Missouri 8-Man Football Coaches Association All-Star Game June 24 at Craig Field at Spratt Memorial Stadium at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. Playing for the Green All-Stars, his duties included quarterbacking during the second half of the annual showcase for outgoing high schoolers. With the Green All-Stars trailing the Silver All-Stars 14-8 at halftime, Stevinson led two second-half scoring drives to help the Green win 2220.
“At first, I was extremely nervous. … I had an idea (of) the plays, but we don’t really run those (at Orrick),” Stevinson said. “So it was nerve-wracking, but once I settled in, it got a lot … better and easier.”
