With one tournament left in the boys golf season, one Richmond Spartan remains standing: Jack Gogue. Gogue, who’ll graduate high school Sunday afternoon, will play in the Class 3 state tournament, scheduled for May 1516 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. He qualified for state by finishing in a tie with The Barstow School’s David Williams for 18th at the Class 3 District 4 Tournament, held Monday at Shirkey Golf Course. The top two teams and top 14 individuals not on those teams advanced. Bishop LeBlond, a St. Joseph-based private school; and Barstow, a Kansas City-based private school, were the top two teams, with LeBlond shooting a 301 and Barstow shooting a 316. The soon-to-be graduate shot an 85 (+14) for his 18-hole round to secure his spot. He overcame a rough hole on his front nine to get his score, according to Richmond coach Murray Dennis.
