Spartans run away with Minutewomen rematch

So did their second. RICHMOND – The Spartans’ first win this season in varsity girls basketball came against Lexington. So did their second. Led by 13 points from freshman Sydney Appleberry and 12 from junior Emmalea Kilpatrick, the Spartans cruised to a Jan. 22 win over the visiting Minutewomen in Missouri River Valley Conference East Division play. The win came roughly six weeks after their 44-25 victory over Lexington at Lafayette County of Higginsville in the Husker Classic. Overall, the Spartans played better in the rematch, Kilpatrick and coach Chad Snyder agreed. “We did some good things tonight – moved the basketball better, we took better care of the basketball,” Snyder said. “We were together,” Kilpatrick said. “We knew where we needed to pass the ball. We weren’t in a hurry.” The Spartans overcame an early deficit to win the rematch.
