Spartans finish second in triangular versus Warrensburg, Harrisonville

RICHMOND – Tuesday marked a first in this girls golf season for the Spartans. By shooting a combined 239, Richmond placed second in a Missouri River Valley Conference triangular with Warrensburg and Harrisonville at Shirkey Golf Course. The Spartans finished 14 strokes behind Warrensburg and 17 strokes ahead of Harrisonville. It was the first conference match (dual or triangular) where all four Richmond golfers participated, meaning it was the first conference match where they could submit a team score, coach Murray Dennis said. “We’re back to full strength, ready to go,” Dennis said. Senior Hannah Norris led the quartet by finishing the nine-hole round with a 56 (+18). “My long shots were really good,” Norris said. “I had really good drives and second shots, but my putting and chipping … (need) a lot of work. With golf, it’s kind of that thing where, when one thing’s really good, something else is wrong. So you kind of have to find a balance in between the two.” Sophomore…
