Second-half surge propels Richmond into Husker Classic semis

HIGGINSVILLE – A second-half surge Tuesday helped Richmond stay undefeated in varsity boys basketball. Trailing Windsor 34-29, the Spartans ripped off nine straight third-quarter points and went on to outscore the Greyhounds 34-21 for the half to secure a 60-50 victory in opening the Husker Classic on the Lafayette County C-1 campus in Higginsville. The victory put the Spartans, 2-0, in the winner’s bracket semifinals. “Game was a tough one,” Richmond coach Kevin Jermain stated Wednesday via email. “Windsor came in very inspired and played really hard. We had a hard time keeping the ball out of the paint and they turned us over a lot. We did a good job in the second half of getting the ball inside more.
