ORRICK – The Bearcats’ 78-22 Oct. 16 home loss to North Shelby was “one of those snowball games,” Orrick varsity 8-man football coach Eric Fairchild said. Or “one of those Murphy Law nights.” Take your pick. “Pretty much anything that could’ve gone wrong went wrong,” Fairchild said. Early, however, something went right for the Bearcats. After North Shelby had taken the opening lead on Cale Stoneburner’s 31-yard TD run with 8 minutes, 3 seconds remaining in the first quarter, senior Ethan Wilson returned the ensuing kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown. “(He was) able to find a little hole there and he made a great cut and he was able to get loose; and, yeah, that was a big play for us – tied it up at 6,” Fairchild said. “That had to be the highlight of the night.” Then, the snowball started rolling.
