RICHMOND – A week between matches served the Spartans well, varsity volleyball coach Madison Endsley and senior Sophia Farnan agreed after Richmond’s 2-0 sweep Sept. 10 of visiting Orrick. The break between Richmond’s Sept. 3 season-opening road loss to Summit Christian Academy and the meeting with Orrick, Endsley’s high school alma mater, allowed the Spartans to develop their team chemistry, Farnan said. “We all bonded as a team,” she said. “We all got closer – and I think that definitely helped … us (at) playing together and helped us win. … Those relationships are what build a team.” Endsley agreed and saw other benefits. A break like the one between Summit Christian and Orrick – or the one between Orrick and Richmond’s scheduled nonconference match this week at Wellington-Napoleon – “gives us time to kind of regroup, fix things,” Endsley said. “This last break, it really helped us because we switched our rotation,” she said.
