Richmond girls strive to improve after loss to Wellington-Napoleon

RICHMOND – The Spartans will use their 74-16 loss Jan. 29 to Wellington-Napoleon at Richmond High School in the title game of the Richmond Winter Classic to improve, freshman guard Hailee Green said. “We’re going to work on ballhandling better and taking it up the court, and (we’re) definitely going to spend more time shooting,” Green said. Green led the Spartans with six points by sinking back-to-back three-point shots – something she said she had never done in a varsity basketball game. The fourthquarter buckets provided Richmond’s final points. The baskets were “an extension of kind of what we do as a team,” Richmond coach Chad Snyder said. Attempting more treys has been a point of emphasis this season, Snyder said. Snyder also saw the buckets as part of Green’s development as a player. “Hailee’s been working hard,” he said. “She has put in the time, and she can make it (three-pointer).
