Reimagining helps soften blow of no spring sports

Quentin Tarantino has rubbed off on me. As others have noted, the maverick filmmaker has rewritten history a few times. His most recent bit of revisionist history is “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” a 2019 feature film that provides a happy ending for the late actress Sharon Tate, played with a lively, intoxicating sweetness by Australian Margot Robbie. I, too, have been inspired to provide some happy endings of my own to correct an unfortunate piece of recent history. As multiple media outlets have reported, the Missouri State High School Activities Association announced April 9 there would be no spring sports postseason because of the coronavirus pandemic. Saddened by the news, I wanted to do something for the local prep athletes who were denied opportunities to compete at a state meet or tournament. Somehow, offering them my condolences was not enough. Instead, I have reimagined the spring sports season, particularly for the local seniors. In my vision, all traces of COVID-19…
