TOP FIVE
The Spartans overcame a sluggish start to secure their fifth-place finish at the Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC) boys wrestling tournament, held Jan. 14 and hosted by Center High School, according to Richmond coach Cody Hogan.
“There were several matches that we lost that we should have won,” Hogan stated Tuesday by email. “I felt like the kids pulled together at the end to finish strong to bring home a plaque.”
Richmond tallied 154 points to secure that plaque – eight points more than sixth-place Holden and eight points behind fourth-place Oak Grove.
Cayden Morris and Aidan Ivison
placed second to lead the Spartans to their fifth-place finish. Morris, a junior; and Ivison, a senior, each went 2-1. Morris was runner-up in the 113-pound division. Ivison wrestled at 190. They were among nine top-six Richmond finishers.
