Norris leads Richmond trio to state girls golf tourney
RICHMOND – A strategic adjustment is one reason why Richmond senior Hannah Norris has one more high school girls golf tournament to play.
Norris will play in the Class 1 state tournament Oct. 19-20 on the Posse course at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex at Smithville Lake. She qualified by tying Salisbury’s Sydney Stundebeck for sixth place Monday at the Class 1 District 3 Tournament at Shirkey Golf Course.
The top 19 finishers advanced – one more than the Missouri State High School Activities Association’s 18-player cutoff because of a three-way tie for 17th. For complete district results, visit the MSHSAA website.
Norris, who shot a 105 (+34), took a cautious approach to Monday’s 18-hole, par-71 round.
“On those difficult shots … (where) you could hit a longer shot or you could keep it safe and be a little bit shorter, I decided to play it safe today, and it kind of worked out in my favor,” she said. “So, lesson learned for, I guess, all the younger people that’ll be after me…
