NHC varsity stays outside, JH forced inside for camp

Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson and his Aggies beat Monday’s rain storm that hit Ray County. NHC coach Tommy Burton and his junior high Aggies didn’t. In conducting their team camp session 6-8 a.m. on the Hardin-Central practice field, the varsity Aggies finished shortly before a downpour began in Hardin, then went inside for weight training. Overall, Watson was pleased with what he saw from his 22 campers. “I thought the kids did a good job (of) showing up. … We had good energy, (the) kids were flying around. … (We’re) continuing to see kids grow more confident in what we’re trying to do,” Watson said. Forced into the Hardin-Central gym because of the storm, the junior high Aggies held their team camp 8-10 a.m. “Football’s supposed to be played on the field – on grass,” Burton remarked. “So I’d always love to be on the grass, but (you) adapt and survive.” Burton counted 25 junior high athletes for his indoor session. “I love it,” he…
