Hogan leads ‘really good group of girls’ onto volleyball court

Cody Hogan, Richmond’s new varsity volleyball coach, is giving senior Allison Coats and junior Kaylee King cause for optimism. “I think it’s going to be a good season,” King said following an Aug. 7 practice in the high school gym. Coats is optimistic, in part, because of her history of working with Hogan. “I had him (as a coach) my freshman year,” Coats said. “He was actually the C team coach, but I got to interact with him a lot. And he was just really good at keeping us motivated. His big thing is conditioning, which definitely helped us during the game. … I think the season’s going to be fun with him.” In addition, Hogan excels at bringing energy to practice, according to King. “He’s positive,” she said. Coats and King are among roughly 35 girls out for volleyball in grades 9-12, Hogan estimated – enough for a varsity, junior varsity and a C team.
