Harris places top five at state

Harris, who just finished his junior year at Orrick, placed fifth in the boys 110-meter high hurdles with his time of 16.14 seconds at Class 1 state competition, held recently at Jefferson City High School – his second straight year to place in the top five in the event. He placed third in 16.06 in 2022, when he also placed fifth in the 300 intermediate hurdles. Harris was Orrick’s lone athlete to receive a medal. Medals went to the top eight finishers in each event. Overall, Harris competed in three individual events. He placed 12th in both the 300s and the triple jump. In other Orrick results, Anela Fletcher finished 12th in the girls long jump and the boys 3,200 relay team placed 16th. “I am sure they are not totally pleased with their performances; however, I am so proud of them and all they have done all season,” Orrick varsity coach Kirk Thacker stated via text message. “Experiencing state … (let) them set goals and have something to strive for…
