Hamlin tragedy evokes memories of former Ray Countians

to PRO High heat, drop kicks, random observations and points that amuse are all part of the wide, wide world of sports at the community and national levels. Something happened Monday that shook me emotionally, as it did millions of sports fans, I’m sure. It also made me reflect on Ray Countians I know or knew and some sports-related memories. That night, I planned to follow the Cincinnati vs. Buffalo football game on ESPN, scheduled to follow the Rose Bowl, while handling some details at home. Sometime during the second half of Penn State University’s win over the University of Utah in the Rose Bowl, the rain temporarily knocked out my TV reception. After several minutes, I turned on my television to see if I could get a signal again. The signal had been restored. What I saw stunned me. What I heard related to what I saw saddened me.
