H-C softballers start with three-games-in-four-days whirlwind again

Hardin-Central softball coach Brandee Doyle and her Bulldogs won’t have much time to rest the first week of the regular season. As Doyle reminded the Bulldogs after their Aug. 18 practice at the Hardin American Legion and Auxiliary fields, they’ll play three ballgames that week. As is stated on the Missouri State High School Activities Association website (MSHSAA), they’re slated to start Aug. 29 on the road against the Winston/ Pattonsburg co-op, then host Leeton Aug. 30 and finish Sept. 1 at Lexington. “It is always that way,” said Doyle, a Richmond High School graduate. “I don’t know why the first week is three games. But it gets us broke in. We’ve got people that can go in multiple spots on the team, so that’s going to be good because we can switch. We’re not going to have (it) like we did last year, … (when) Abby ( McNelly) was our pitcher and she had to tough through three games in the first week. So we are going to be switching.
