Greer, Thacker remain optimistic after loss to Orioles
Orrick varsity 8-man football coach Kirk Thacker and offensive/defensive lineman Tucker Greer are confident the Bearcats will get their fortunes reversed.
The Bearcats are 0-3 entering Friday’s home meeting with Braymer/ Breckenridge – the first-ever 0-3 start for Thacker in a coaching career that has included leading Hardin-Central’s 8-man program and then the Norborne Hardin-Central 8-man co-op, he said.
“We’re going to turn it around. … I have faith and confidence in these boys and I know they can play better and play harder. … We just need to pick up our efforts and our determination a little bit more and we’ll be fine, should be fine,” Thacker said Monday during practice. “I think they’re as shocked as I am.”
The Bearcats, who were undefeated during the 2022 regular season and finished 11-1, should be undefeated as they prepare for Braymer/Breckenridge (3-0), according to Greer. Despite the 0-3 start, “the season’s alive” for them, he said.
