Girls fifth in tourney with stretch run

RICHMOND – When the Spartans trailed 30-29 about midway through the fourth quarter against Oak Grove, they did not panic. They staged a 10-0 run that helped them win the Jan. 28 meeting at Richmond Middle School 39-32 and take fifth place in the girls portion of the Richmond Winter Classic. Richmond senior post player Lexi Bokarae credited coach Chad Snyder as the comeback key. “He kept us going,” Bokarae said. “He kept giving us advice on what to do … to stop them from getting it down in the paint.” Bokarae paced the Spartans with 10 points. Other contributors included fellow senior Emmalea Kilpatrick with nine. Oak Grove senior center Mackenzie Mann led all scorers with 13 points. Other Oak Grove contributors included senior forward Makenna Gray with nine. Bokarae, Kilpatrick and company also played catchup earlier in the game against Mann, Gray and company.
