Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson and his Aggies hope to ride the momentum of a preseason practice session into the regular season. On Aug. 10, the Aggies went through their paces on the practice field at Hardin-Central, capping the morning with reps pushing a blocking sled. Watson considered it perhaps the best practice he has coached in his three seasons with the program. The team’s energy level was key to the practice, agreed Watson, Drew Hawkins and Kalel Bowman. That was particularly true considering the practice setting, according to Hawkins, a Hardin-Central senior who’s playing football and running cross country (see Hardin-Central cross country preview). “It’s early in the morning,” he said. “Everyone’s kind of groggy – not fully awake.
