Richmond High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) students recently completed their Donkey Basketball Fundraiser. FFA teacher Laura Allen said the fundraiser had students, teachers, citizens and supporters played basketball while riding donkeys. About 500 community members showed up to watch the novel game and support the FFA. There were two games, then a championship game, Allen confirmed. “It was crazy to see real, live donkeys inside the school gymnasium,” she said. “Community members young and old thoroughly enjoyed the event. Most of the donkeys were stubborn and wouldn’t go where they were directed, but some were rowdy and would buck if someone would even try to get on their back. It was a hilarious sight.” During the intermission between games, young children were able to have free donkey rides. There were several sponsors for the event, including Oliphant’s Heating and Cooling, Vandiver Cattle Co and Missouri Farm and Home Mutual Insurance. Friends of Richmond FFA …
