Dolphins win conference meet for clean sweep

This summer, Trish Fields faced – and accomplished – what she considered a daunting task. Fields succeeded Angie Pencook as head coach of the Dolphin Swim Team, Richmond’s club program. Following Pencook “was kind of intimidating,” given that Pencook’s tenure had included an undefeated season in 2022, Fields said. Fields answered the challenge by leading the Dolphins to another undefeated season. They capped their campaign by winning their conference meet July 22 at Southview Pool in Richmond. “The kids absolutely pulled it out,” she said. The Dolphins “pulled it out” by tallying 598.5 points in their season finale – 254 points ahead of runner-up Carrollton and 370 points ahead of third-place Marshall. Having “quite a few first-place winners” was key to taking the three-team meet, according to Fields. “I’m so proud of that,” she said.
