Debated kneel down-related ending caps Orrick’s road win over NHC

HARDIN – Eric Fairchild will probably remember Orrick’s 35-26 win Sept. 4 over Norborne Hardin-Central because it was his first win as Orrick’s varsity 8-man football coach. And because of how it ended. The Bearcats led 29-26 and faced first-and-goal at the NHC 4-yard line when they lined up for the final play of the Central Rivers Conference non-divisional meeting. There was time left to snap the ball and maybe take a knee. At least, that was what NHC coach Kirk Thacker and his Aggies expected Orrick to do. That was not what happened.
