Comstock overcomes ‘really rough start at Drumm Farm

INDEPENDENCE – Dylan Comstock liked his ending of Monday’s Kansas City Junior Tour competition at Drumm Farm Golf Club better than his beginning. “The first few holes were really rough,” Dylan, a 2020-21 Orrick senior, said. “But the back nine was my firstever nine holes under par in … (a) tournament.” Comstock, who had not played in a tournament since summer 2019, shot a 43 (+7) for the front nine. He shot a 35 (-1) for the back nine to finish the 18- hole tournament with a 78 (+6). “It felt amazing to be able to do that,” he said. Sinking a lengthy putt to birdie on the 17th hole helped Comstock finish the back nine under par. “(I) didn’t really trust my line,” he said. “Just kind of hit it and it happened to go in.” The putt helped Comstock place 13th among 42 golfers in the boys 16+ division – one stroke behind Lawson’s Jack Evans and one stroke ahead of three golfers who finished in a tie for 14th.
