Richmond will have a new head coach leading its girls golf program as the Spartans begin their quest for another trip to the state tournament.

Breann Battagler takes over for Courtney Sisson, who guided Richmond to the Class 2 state tournament in 2025. Battagler will make her coaching debut Sept. 1 when the Spartans compete against Harrisonville and Clinton in a triangular at Meadow Lake Golf Club in Clinton.

Battagler will be assisted by Brandon Rittmiller and inherits a team with four returning letter winners. Senior Karoline Dooley, senior Jazmyn Schroder, junior Lyla Best and sophomore Molly Renfro return to the varsity lineup.

Dooley, Schroder and Best have already taken on leadership roles as Battagler gets acquainted with the program and several new golfers learn the sport.

“Karoline, Jazmyn and Lyla are my go-to girls right now,” said Battagler. “They have helped me teach the ins and outs to our fresh faces while doing it with a smile on their faces.”
