‘Awesome’ Richmond volleyballers third at Carrollton
CARROLLTON – On Oct. 3, Richmond varsity volleyball coach Madison Endsley saw her Spartans pull off an “awesome” feat at the Carrollton Tournament.
After getting swept by Carrollton (25-18, 25-17) and Trenton (25-13, 27-25) in best-of-three matches, the Spartans finished pool play by sweeping Brookfield (25-17, 25-12). They then defeated Brookfield again 2-0 in the third-place match.
“The second game, we knew how they played, so I told them that we were really going to work on our fundamentals and just … (have) a goal of beating them again,” Endsley said. “And they accomplished it and I was proud of them.”
Sweeping Brookfield was “really nice,” senior Selena Farrell said.
“It was probably so exciting to the entire team,” Farrell said. “It really lifted our spirits from the last couple of games.”
Fellow senior Kristen Jaggars agreed. Teamwork was key, Jaggars said.
