Norman L. Wirsig, 76, of Richmond, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at North Kansas City Hos-pital.

Norman was born on Jan. 3, 1944, in Deep Water, the son of Clyde W. and Mildred L. (Ballew) Wirsig.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Porter of Richmond on Oct. 25, 1969; she preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2018.

Survivors include: two sons, Jeff (Amy) Wirsig of Richmond and Kenny (Christal) Wirsig of Odessa; two daughters, Cheryl (Jeff) Arbogast of Richmond and Sherri (Mike) Farmer of Clinton; 10 grandchildren, Justin (Kayla) Wirsig, Ashley Wirsig, Makayla Wirsig, Lindsey Arbogast, Brandon Arbogast, Kasi (Josh) Goth, Ava Wirsig, Lily Wirsig, Linkin Wirsig and Clayton Farmer; three great-grandchildren, Carsin Wirsig, Raife Beardshear and Ellie Goth; two brothers, Richard (Charlene) Wirsig of Clinton and Kenneth Wirsig of Urich; and three sisters, Carolyn Bodenhamer of Lee’s Summit, and Sharon Wirsig and Linda Wirsig, both of Overland Park, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers, Donald Wirsig, Marvin Wirsig and Melvin Wirsig.

After graduating from high school, Norman was first in the National Guard and then worked for Lake City.  He worked for Ford Motor Co. for over 30 years as a forklift driver. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local No. 249. Norman also worked as a farmer on his farm north of town. He was a bit of a Renaissance man, problem solver, and could fix anything; Norman even built his own home. He was a collector and liked to tinker with things. Norman loved sitting at his shop on nice days, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., with services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow services in Wakenda Cemetery, north of Hardin.
