Marvin Dean Milligan, 77, of Richmond passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Dean was born on Jan. 29, 1946, in Stet, the son of Leo Grant and Katherine (Stratton) Milligan. He was united in marriage to Linda Sue Hendrix of Richmond on Sept. 3, 1965. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his son, Eric Milligan, and wife Gwen of Kansas City; daughter, Deana Coats of Kearney; three grandsons, Reece Milligan, Grant Milligan and Chance Coats; four brothers, Jim and his wife Zelpha, Calvin and his wife Dorothy, Wendell and his wife Teressa, and Leon Milligan; and one sister, Shirley Bisbee, and her husband Bill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Kenny and Allen; and a sister, Mildred Lee Pollard.

Dean was reared and educated in the area of his birth and graduated in 1964 from Stet High School.

Dean worked for six years for Ford Motor Co. He was best known for his skills as a painter. He owned and operated Dean’s Painting for 30 years. He was a hard-working man and made sure his family always had what they needed. One of his favorite sayings was, “Do the job, large or small, do it right or not at all!”

Dean enjoyed raising cattle and bird hunting – quail, pheasant and especially turkey. He liked watching the Chiefs, Westerns, The Hallmark Channel and the Lifetime station with his wife.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. and services to follow at 3:30. Burial will follow in Crowley Cemetery near Rayville.
