James Richard “Jim” Park, 83, of Richmond, died Friday, December 18, 2020, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Jim was born on March 22, 1937, in Kansas City, the son of James Frederick and Ebba (Babe) Park. He was united in marriage to Erma Neona Shook of Kansas City on May 15, 1971. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: three daughters, Peggy Brumfield and her husband Nelson, Luana Bloom and her husband David “Beau,” and Kristi McCoy and her husband Paul; two sons, Phillip Sloan and his wife Barbie, and Jeffrey Park and his wife Terri; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Jim began his police career in Independence and retired from the Richmond Police Department, where he worked for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing trips with his family and friends to Bennett Springs, as well as a lifetime of hunting and fishing. Jim was a Mason and a member of the Ray County Lodge No. 223 AF&AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family, to purchase a memorial bench at Bennett Springs State Park or to the Ray County Masonic Lodge. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
