Harold Wayne Simmons, 85, of Richmond, died Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. 

Harold was born on July 21, 1936, in Henrietta, the son of William J. and Letha C. (Lemke) Simmons. 

Survivors include: his good friends, Pat Mills and Shirley O’Dell and all his friends at the senior center in Richmond. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Robert B. Simmons, and sister, Lois Jean Kuefel. 

Harold was reared and educated in the area of his birth.  After high school, he worked for a while in California before returning to the area of his birth, where he retired from Lake City Arsenal.  In his youth, he was a star basketball player, he loved to sing, enjoyed trivia, was a very intelligent man, and of the Christian faith.  Harold especially enjoyed his time spent at the Ray County Senior Center in Richmond hanging out with all his friends. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Ray County Senior Center or Shirkey Hospice.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
