Last week, Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson had to walk a tightrope, metaphorically speaking.

Watson and his staff had to prepare the Aggies to face Missouri Highway 10 rival Orrick. And they had to do so during a week of homecoming festivities.

“I think every coach has that love-hate relationship with homecoming,” Watson said. “You have the distractions and stuff like that. So it’s just kind of trying to find that balance of you want the kids to enjoy the experience and have fun, but remembering that, without taking care of business on Friday night, homecoming’s not nearly as fun.”

NHC took care of business, posting a 48-12 win Sept. 18 at Hardin-Central.

“I thought they did a great job staying focused this week,” Watson said minutes after the victory.

Brody Fifer helped lead the Aggies (4-0) to the win. Officially, the Hardin-Central senior went 7-for-7 in passing, throwing for 131 yards and four touchdowns.
