One of Richmond’s newest teachers is making his mark in the classroom and on the football sidelines, bringing years of experience shaped by education and athletics.

Dakota Ah-Mu recently joined Richmond High School as a special education teacher and the Spartans’ wide receivers coach, the latest stop on a path that took him from playing quarterback to coaching and education. He will also coach javelin for Richmond’s track program later this school year.

Ah-Mu grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 2019. He began playing football in kindergarten and moved to quarterback when he started tackle football in third grade, remaining at the position throughout his playing career.

After high school, Ah-Mu attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., where he played football for a year before returning home when the COVID-19 pandemic began.
